The nubian goat named Pig

About Us

It all started with "Pig" a goat that chose us to be her family. As a couple, we decided to adopt our uncle's unfortunate-looking goat.  Pig was thin, was not getting pregnant, and would soon be sent to auction. We were actively house hunting at the time and were searching for a house outside of Charleston South Carolina. We told our realtor we need a home with some land and a place that will allow a goat. The process was not easy but we found our sweet little home on 1 acre. Research led us to the understanding that Pig needed a goat friend and from there The Jones Mini Farm grew.

Living a more sustainable lifestyle is the ultimate goal. In came the chickens! We started with 6 chicks from tractor supply. Knowing little to nothing about raising chicks or how to pick good egg layers we had a rough beginning. 5 out of 6 chicks were roosters. Lesson learned. We needed hens and hens are what we got! We now offer farm-fresh eggs since our hens lay far more than what we can consume.

In one year our commitment to one goat spiraled into a full-blown farm. Pig welcomed her first baby in early 2019, proving with care and love even the most unfortunate-looking animals can thrive. We are so excited about what our future will hold and hope to inspire others in our journey.
